Regional Diagnosis of Skin Diseases
The diagnosis of skin diseases is often done by pattern recognition in the same way that we recognise friends in the street. However certain skin diseases are commonly found in specific areas of the body just as some friends are seen in certain cafe's or places of employment.
The link opposite to differential diagnoses in dermatology illustrates the use of mnemonics to categorise certain skin diseases in terms of their morphology eg Red scaly, Red nonscaly, Pustular, Vesicular and Bullous. Many other skin diseases are more easily diagnosed because of their funny colour, shape, distribution and texture. This website will look at Distribution of a rash as a means of arriving at the correct diagnosis.
